Egypt's Tourism Minister announces intentions to attract 30 million tourists by 2028

In a significant move to boost Egypt's tourism industry, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Ahmed Issa, recently unveiled ambitious plans to attract 30 million tourists annually by 2028. This announcement underscores the country's commitment to fostering tourism growth and establishing Egypt as a premier destination in global markets.

Minister Issa also highlighted the importance of close cooperation with international airline companies, addressing their concerns to enhance accessibility to Egypt through increased airline seats.

In the fiscal year 2022/2023, Egypt's tourism revenues experienced an impressive growth of 26.8 percent, reaching $13.6 billion—a substantial increase from the previous fiscal year's $10.7 billion (2021/2022). The report also highlighted a 35.6 percent rise in the number of inbound tourists, totaling approximately 13.9 million visitors. Moreover, tourists' nights spent in Egypt soared by 27.6 percent, reaching a record 146.1 million nights during the fiscal year.
